Old Yeller
Dear Ms. Zrihen
I am currently reading the book Old Yeller by Fred Gipson.
I started to read this book because I like the movie and i am dieing to know which is better the movie or the book. I also heard that this book was good, my sister recommended it to me. The two reading strategies i used before reading the book was that I skim and scanned, and I also read the synopsis. I would skim and scan to look for pictures, publications, dedications and more. The two reading strategies I have used while I was reading the book was that I asked myself questions about what I have read so far and I looked back in the story for more clues and details. The questions I ask myself for example is why would you want to kill Old Yeller for one mistake he made. Its like if you have a dog or a cat and they rip your pillow will you want to kill him. If you were smart you would know that dog and cats are not smart so they don't know if they did something bad or not. I still don't know what two reading strategies I will use when I am done reading the book but I have half a idea of what I think it will be it will probably be asking myself more questions about the book like the one I have just showed you, and my next one I don't know yet but also probably read the challenging pages I marked again. The genera of this book is fiction. The characters so far are Old Yeller, mama, papa, Arliss, Travis and the neighbors so far. This story takes place in there house in the woods and in there neighbors house also out side. The protagonist is Old Yeller mama papa Arliss but there is still on antagonist yet. The foils are the neighbors. The climax was when he saw Old Yeller fights the bear. The main problem is that the family gets in danger several times and Old Yeller saves them. It is character vs nature. I think the authors purpose to write this story is to entertain. The authors perspective of writing this story is subjective and bias. The tone was good and the mood was exiting. My point of view of this story so far is excellent but still not better than the movie. I would rate this book a eight and a half because the book is interesting but i don't want to rate it a nine or a ten just yet first I want to finish reading the book. So that is what I would rate this book.
Sincerely: your student/ classmate Maor Shaaltiel.
